I’m proud to announce our first release of a new series we’ve picked up, xxxHOLiC: Kei. From Wikipedia:
Kimihiro Watanuki is a high school student plagued by yōkai, spirits with a strong attraction to him. The spirits are invisible to others and, as a result, encounters with them are extremely troublesome. However, when he stumbles into a shop that grants wishes, events in his life promise to become even more unusual.
xxxHOLiC: Kei is actually the second season of the show; if you’ve never seen it before, be sure to watch the first season first.

Definitely oversubbed, 4 other fansubs ahead of you. If you’re gonna start subbing this series I think you should of started at episode 7 so people actually download your release. I think you should pick a different series. Golgo 13 would be nice since BSS is slacking.
Oversubbed? Is anyone besides Shinsen releasing them (in english, that is)? And its funny to talk about BSS slacking on Golgo 13, as Kei is behind due to the troubles Shinsen had with the Mahjong aspects of episode 06.
Although I agree subbing a more recent episode woulda been nice, I don’t see how Flomp working on Kei can be a bad thing. xxxHolic is a great show, and only one of three I actually look forward to.

Flomp could carve them self’s abit of a niche though if for instance they stuck to doing the Widescreen/16:9 releases(which quite annoyingly do not air at the same time as the 4:3 version)

Ahwell. Since I’m hopignt o watch tsubasa chronicales (the clamp collab with eveyrthing mixed together) this can be a good watch.
ZT: We do plan to continue subbing in 16:9 aspect ratio; if we’re going to carve out a niche, though, it’s going to be because we’re doing better subs than everybody else. :p
Credibility: It’s true that we’re off to a bit of a late start, but we’re subbing this because we want to do it well, not just to get download counts. Jumping into the middle of the series wouldn’t be any fun.

not my kind of series but i’m glad your picking something else up. Yea you do have Eureka 7 but with the dvd’s coming out so slow it wont be subbed anytime soon.
Its still nice to see you guys picking up another series, when you finish xxxHOLiC Kei start a new series.
I’d love to see you continue the HD version, but you need a better source for your RAWs, this one’s blocky and blurry in a way that makes it seem like it was scaled up from the widescreen SD version
Yeah, I didn’t like this raw much either actually, but it was the best one we could find. We’re looking forward to getting better ones for future episodes.

Viral Gaara: I don’t remember anyone saying we would definitely work on the series you want. We asked for suggestions, that’s all. In the end, we’ll sub something that we find fun to sub. It would have been good to pick something suggested by the fans, but in the end the most appealing suggestions came from within the group.
Having said that, Naruto is still a possibility. However I personally wouldn’t be helping with it because I’ve never watched the series; there’s no way I’m jumping into the middle of things like that
I hope the decision to do ×××HOLiC◆KEI communicates that Flomp’s mission isn’t simply to pick up everything DB does and try to do it better, and also we aren’t a fansub group just for long-running shounen series. We tended to get a lot of requests for that kind of thing… Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, Detective Conan, Prince of Tennis (OVAs), and so on.
It would be nice if ×××HOLiC◆KEI could broaden Flomp’s audience (or at least the tastes of our existing audience).
Yes, you did not say ‘definitely’ and in the end it’s your call, duh. But you did ask for people’s opinion and you got a handful of suggestions, which you kinda ignored.
I respect that you don’t want it to seem like you try to gain from the popularity of already big series like DB did, but noone really cares about DB, we just want to see a proper series properly done.

Nobody is subbing the new prince of tennis ova episode thats been out for 2 weeks, and 1-2 episodes comes out every 2-3 months. Can your team fansub one loenly prince of tennis episode ova 20 please. im tired of reading other prince of tennis fans complaining on youtube and crunchyroll how nobody has subbed ova 20 lol. im a fan but other fans are upsetting me, why nobody is fansubbing it but im dieing to see it subbed. if you cant get your hands on a raw, i can probably find a user on youtube to hook you up.
Or also if anybody can translate the episode, there are people who could sub it but just dont know japanese. so if we can get a script or translation from a translator, one of us fans could subtitle the episode, we just need to know what the players are saying.
is 171 of bleach coming out soon?

To answer a question that a few people had, no, xxxholic isn’t going to slow down Bleach releases. One thing that *will* slow down Bleach releases is having all our translators (and backup translators) busy with other stuff at the same time. :/ We’re still recruiting, btw, so if anybody happens to know somebody who can translate for us, we’d be eternally grateful.
Flomp-Fansubs

Congratulations on picking up a new project. I personally do not think XXXHolic is oversubbed. My reasoning is that hopefully Flomp will complete all 26 episodes because I know Shinshen usually drop a project immediately when it in licensed for the U.S. I do not know the other groups policy but I do remember Death Note last year when I thought it was oversubbed then it was licensed and I believe only two groups finished the series. As a note to D Gray-man fans be prepared for Shinshen to drop it because the first season has been licensed it won’t take long for the whole series to be.
After reading the comments I must say Golgo 13 would be a good choice for people to watch. I have seen the first 6 episodes and it is good if you like a hitman that can kill anyone and does it so elaborate that even though the police know he did it and sometimes hire him they can not prosecute him because they have no evidence and it is so unbelievable that they believe no way a person can have the skills Gogo has. Also during sex with a hooker he shows no emotion which is funny and it let you know no one can make Gogo smile because he is a ice cold killa. Just make sure you watch the first three episode to see if you like it because the first episode was kind of lacking in coolness that the future episodes have.

Finally I wonder am I the only one that like Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino because I am surprise no one has mentioned it. I know they changed almost everything that made the first season excellent but the second season is good and seeing Pinocchio in action and Triela preparing to kill his ass is great anime. The Triad dropped the show at the seventh episode because it has been licensed. It sucks to be stuck in a middle of series because Funimation says the dvds for the U.S. will come in 2009 on their website. I hope somebody pick it up because there are six TV episodes left and two DVD only episodes. People who like Terminator, lolis, and 24 may like it but I suggest you rent the first season DVD to understand the story and characters better or find the first season torrent the sub and dub are both good so either one you find should be good. The plot is take girls with extremely unfortunate circumstances erase their memories and put cybernetic implants in them assign them a handler to train them in counter terrorism and to become like a Fratello on missions to protect Italy. There is more to the story but that would make this post double the size.
